Water Pricing

Prices are adjusted in accordance with addendum 3 of the Contract for the Management and Operation of the Water Supply Service in Port Vila.

The URA fixes the maximum price and aims to find the right balance between the interests of consumers in Vanuatu, the utilities and the Government.

- Consumers should not pay more than necessary for water services of a given standard.

- Utilities should be able to charge tariffs in such a manner that allows it to cover all its costs which includes operating, maintenance and investment costs.

- The Government of Vanuatu should be able to meet its need for long term growth and economic development, and tariff should support improvements and future investments in water supply.

Tariff reviews assess the continuing appropriateness of tariffs in terms of their level and structure.

The base rates are adjusted every six months by application of the rise and fall formula. The following attachment provides the water rate applicable since 2010.
