Electricity

Market, Regulation, Consumer's help

The electricity grid in Loltong, located in North Pentecost, is an 8.8 kW pico-hydro PV solar hybrid mini-grid system. It was established in March 2022 through funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), along with co-financing from the Vanuatu Government and the Department of Energy (DoE) through the BRANTV project. Currently, the grid is administered by the Department of Energy as the interim operator and provides electricity to 98 households.

Electricity Tariff Review

In April 2022, the Department of Energy requested the Authority to determine a tariff for the system. After analyzing the provided system data, the Authority decided to set the tariff at 88.46VUV/kWh, which came into effect in May 2022 and remained valid until May 2023. In May 2023, the Authority made the decision to reissue the same tariff, which will be applied for another year.
