Utilities Regulatory Authority (URA) is advertising to recruit a Legal Advisor”. The Legal advisor position is a contract position (4 years) renewable and will be based at the URA Port Vila Office. The position will be subject to a six (6) months probation period.

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in law and legal practice preferably in Legislative drafting and other related fields.
  • At least 5 to 6 years of working experience in legal analysis, regulation and policy compliance in public or private institutions; experience in GoV utility & legislative sectors is an advantage
  • Expertise in legal drafting, to draft legal notices, regulations, legal policies, amendment bills, commission orders, URA contracts, DCO/COM papers, analysis papers for commission emerging legal issues and MOUs.
  • Expertise in providing sound legal advice and opinion.
  • Capacity to analyse and mitigate risks.
  • Good advocacy skills and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work as a team and independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with commission/ board members and stakeholders and fluent in both written and spoken English and Bislama with some basic understanding of French an added advantage.
  • Ability to think analytically and wholistically and must have good interpersonal skills and dispute resolution skills

A valid driver’s licence would be advantageous.
