Overview:
This report issued by the Utilities Regulatory Authority (the Authority) provides an electricity market update in Vanuatu for the month of October 2023 for electricity utilities that are regulated by the Authority. During the month, renewable energy contribution from wind energy decreased compared to the previous month, after bringing the renewable energy contribution to its highest peak since 2022 in September 2023. It should be noted that the Malekula Brenwei hydro is operational and has contributed tremendously to the energy production in that area. The hydro contribution provided in this report is estimated by the Authority, estimation was done using the total generation of October 2023 less total diesel contribution as provided by VANPAWA (Brenwei data is not available yet). Power sold and produced during the month respectively decreased and increased compared to September 2023.
