Overview:
This report issued by the Utilities Regulatory Authority (the Authority) provides an electricity market update in Vanuatu for the month of May 2023. The presented information and data are only for electricity utilities that are regulated by the Authority. During the month, the energy market experienced a decrease in renewable energy contribution to total power produced, due to a decrease in hydro energy production. Solar and windmill energy contribution total power generated during the month has picked up from April. UNELCO Engie’s monthly adjusted electricity tariff for the month further decreased by 1 % from last month’s tariff. VANPAWA Limited has taken over operations of the Tanna (Lenakel) and Malekula (Lakatoro) electricity concessions during the month.
