To support the implementation of the Island Electricity Concession model, the Authority has undertaken a thorough tariff determination process. This included extensive discussions with the DoE and Vanuatu Utilities and Infrastructure (VUI) ltd as the potential Operator, alongside a detailed review of the mini grids' feasibility study reports.

Based on this assessment, the Authority has determined an interim uniform base tariff of 61.00 Vatu per kilo watt hour (Vt./kWh), applicable over a one- year period from August 2026 to July 2027 to cover the operations of the four operational mini grids of Waterfall. Larimaat, Melsisi and Loltong, as well as the Nambwaranguit mini grid, which remains under construction. During this tariff period, the Government through the DoE remains liable for any cost incurred above the revenue generated by VUI to ensure that the Pentecost concession does not impose any additional cost to VUI's other concession area.
