Utilities Regulatory Authority

The Utilities Regulatory Authority (‘the Authority’) have donated 25 solar streetlights on the 20th of October 2025 to the community of Namba 2 Lagoon based on a formal request seeking support from the Authority to assist the community streetlight project. The Authority approved the request to the donation showing support to this initiative led by the community to electrify the area of Namba 2 lagoon and ensure it is safe for the customers and public.

This act of kind contribution aligns with the Authority’s function to ensure safe regulated service to utility customers and public as defined under the URA Act No.11 of 2007. Apart from safety, promoting access of electricity through renewable energy products within the regulated area enable both parties (community & Authority) to achieve the objectives of the National Energy Road Map (NERM) target of the Vanuatu government including the Authority by giving back to consumers of electricity that are contributing to URA levy applied on their electricity invoices.
