The Authority undertakes inspections in response to public concerns or customer complaints or as planned.

 Safety

In relation to safety of networks, the Authority:

1. Undertake or facilitate safety inspections on utility systems​.
   
   
2. Issue Safety Standards relative to a regulated service​
   
   
3. Issue a Safety Order to utilities for non-compliance to applicable standards​.
   
   
4. Enforce Safety Standards 
   
   

Reliability

In relation to the reliability of networks, the Authority:

1. Issue Reliability Standards relative to a regulated service​
   
   
2. Monitor and issue penalties for non-conformity to applicable Reliability Standards or reliability provisions in an existing contract. 

The Authority also undertakes annual safety inspection on utility networks and liaise with utilities on safety, reliability, and access issues.
